Cyr Wheel Technique
10.15 – 11.45 (week 1, explorers)

These workshops are designed to make learning the discipline of Cyr wheel easy and fun. Sessions will focus on the core elements of Cyr wheel and include specific preparatory and core strengthening exercises with logical progressions. 

Participants will work on agility, balance and coordination and build towards learning manipulations, spins and rocks. For newcomers this is a great introduction and stand-alone class, for returning students it will be a fantastic refresher.  

You should be able to hold your own body weight on your arms but no prior experience is necessary. Please wear comfortable, close-fitting training clothes.  

Shoes should be slim soled plimsolls (or pumps) for working on the wheel - Feiyues are ideal!

 

Cyr Wheel Technique
12.00pm – 1.30 pm (week 1, improvers)

If you have done Cyr wheel before these workshops will allow you to expand your existing knowledge base plus gain more control and greater physical awareness working with the wheel.  Sessions will focus on understanding how basic drills are linked to more intricate skills and will incorporate preparations for waltz, cartwheels and coins. 

Please wear comfortable, close-fitting training clothes. Shoes should be slim soled plimsolls (or pumps) for working on the wheel - Feiyues are ideal!

 

Cyr Wheel Technique
2.00pm – 3.30pm (week 1, skilled/advanced) PLEASE NOTE TIME!

These sessions are aimed at practitioners with a good level of technique in waltz, cartwheel and coin and will include work on linking existing skills as well as looking at more complex variations of spins, rocks, cartwheels and coins. . 

There will also be a chance to refine your existing technique as well as look any particular problem areas you might be struggling with. 

Please wear comfortable, close-fitting training clothes. Shoes should be slim soled plimsolls/trainers – Feiyues are ideal.

 

Cyr Wheel Lab
10.00 – 11.45 (week 2, skilled/advanced)

These sessions are aimed at practitioners with a strong level of experience. The classes will look at alternative ways of using the wheel to gain strength and create movement material. We will explore various ways to enter and exit the wheel as well as working in pairs to build new transitions and sequences.

Please wear comfortable, close-fitting training clothes. Shoes should be slim soled plimsolls/trainers – Feiyue’s. It is strongly recommended

 

Cyr Wheel Surgery - WARM UP
Skilled / Advanced - 
week 2 only

This class is designed to teach you how to make more accurate self assessments, increase your understanding of how to move better and improve strength, flexibility and co-ordination. 

We will look at injury patterns associated with cyr wheel, different ways to prepare the body for the demands of training from a biomechanical, physiological and neural perspective and techniques to train the vestibular system to reduce the effects of dizziness. 

There will also be opportunity to go into a more in-depth study of individual difficulties and limitations you might be experiencing in your practice.

Please wear comfortable, close-fitting training clothes. Shoes should be slim soled plimsolls/trainers – Feiyue’s.
